Hey, guys, in this post I will be comparing Luke and Percy, but before you read this check out my earlier posts, then you will get a brief idea of what I am talking about here.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.
You guys might think that Luke is most definitely better as he trained Percy. But Percy gained a lot of experience against monster and Luke himself, he beat Atlas and Hyperion, both said to be one of the most powerful titans and even in the Sword of Hades (I didn’t do a review on this one) Percy beat Lapetus, now Bob and deceased, may God bless his soul (get it? God? Hilarious, I know, but I really should go on with the post), And let us not forget that encounter with Ares, the god of war, one of the most powerful gods in *ahem* war, at the age of 12. Luke, on the other hand, did not get a lot of practice and was… rusty. (I know, calling Luke a rusty swordsman may not be the best idea. Forgive me, Hermes).
I think this is one of the biggest rivalries of the Rick Riordan series, after the Jason/Percy rivalry. But you know, what strikes me is that Luke, a son of Hermes, one of the least important gods (sorry, Hermes) got to be compared with the son of one of the strongest gods. I mean, the amount of effort he must’ve put in it, I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
But the problem with Percy is that most of the fights he fought were won by him with his water abilities or he got some external help. For example, in the fight against Atlas, he won with Artemis’ help, the fight against Hyperion, he was literally controlling a hurricane, and in the fight against Ares, he won with his water abilities. Whereas, Luke didn’t have any powers (except for the fact that he was dipped into the River Styx, and was almost completely invincible).
But, in the end, Percy wins the fight with swords, if there was a fight, I would bet 53% that Percy will win. But I am telling you, it has been hard to take this decision, it required me to physically think of them both fighting, and all their moves, in the end, I see Percy with his sword over Luke’s neck. But I can assure you, the other 47% has not been taken lightly. Luke is still very powerful.
